First lady-to-be Melania Trump and son Barron Trump will not move to the White House after President-elect Donald Trump is sworn into office, a report from the New York Post says.
Barron and Melania will stay in New York City at the Trump Tower so Barron can attend school on the Upper West Side in Manhattan. “The campaign has been difficult for Barron, and she is really hoping to keep disruption to a minimum,” a source close to the matter told the New York Post.
The New York Daily News, meanwhile, reported that Barron and Melania will move into the White House after June, when the school year ends. “It’s Melania who wants to stay. She doesn’t want to take Barron out of school. She’s concerned that he won’t have the same relationship with new teachers that he has at Columbia Prep,” a source said.
Trump adviser Jason Miller said there is “sensitivity to pulling their 10-year-old out of school in the middle of the school year.”
Another source added, “Melania is very supportive of her husband and is fully on board of doing everything that’s needed as first lady,” the Post reported.
New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio suggested that the public should avoid the Trump Tower, located on Fifth Ave. between 57th and 56th streets.
“There will be no wholesale closure of Fifth Ave,” NYPD Commissioner O'Neill said Friday.
