Newsday’s Marc Craig is reporting that the Kansas City Royals will be seeking retribution for Noah Syndergaard’s World Series Game 3 brushback pitch to leadoff hitter Alcides Escobar. The pitch—the first of Game 3—backed the free-swinging Escobar off the plate and set the tone for the New York Mets’ only win of the series.

Craig cited multiple industry sources that the Royals intended retribution when the two teams meet up in Kansas City on Opening Day, April 3rd. Matt Harvey is expected to start for the Mets, while Edinson Volquez is slated to be on the mound for the Royals.

The Syndergaard pitch, which was clocked at 98 mph, ran up and in on the Royals’ aggressive-hitting shortstop, who fell to the ground in attempt to get out of the way. Escobar would end up striking out.
