The Federal Bureau of Investigation will not investigate the alleged child abuse allegations brought against Brad Pitt, according to a new report.
TMZ reported that the FBI believed Pitt should have never been under investigation, though in late September, the FBI said it was “continuing to gather facts“ about the alleged incident.
The case was initially thought to be under investigation by the Los Angeles Police Department, but was taken over by the FBI, which has jurisdiction over mid-flight incidents.
According to TMZ, the FBI is officially still gathering information on the case, though they are “not calling it an investigation.” Pitt will not face prosecution for his role in the alleged incident.
Pitt had vehemently denied any wrongdoing, with a source close to the actor stating:“He takes the matter very seriously and says he did not commit any abuse of his children.” Pitt voluntarily submitted to a drug test to clear his name.
“I can confirm he did take the test,” a source told the New York Daily News. “The Department of Children and Family Services cannot force you to take a test, so by definition it was voluntary.”
According to reports, an intoxicated Pitt allegedly attacked his 15-year-old son Maddox while flying on a private jet from France to Los Angeles on Sept. 14. An anonymous call was made to the L.A. County Dept. of Children and Family Services, which has since interviewed the Hollywood family and mediated their temporary custody agreement.
Angelina Jolie was granted full physical custody of the couple’s children—Shiloh, Maddox, Pax, Zahara, and twins Vivienne and Knox—while Pitt was granted supervised visitation rights until a therapist deems him fit to parent unmonitored. He will reportedly also undergo random drug testing.
Reports suggested that Pitt’s blowup is what led to Jolie filing for divorce on Sept. 19. The “Maleficent” actress cited irreconcilable differences after two years of marriage.
