A lonely grandfather who was snubbed by five of his grandchildren has attracted so much attention online that he’s planning a huge cookout for the public.
“Papaw” was brought to the Internet’s attention by Kelsey Harmon, one of his grandkids.
She’s the only one who showed up to a special dinner he had planned for his grandchildren.
“He made 12 burgers for all 6 grandkids and I’m the only one who showed,” she revealed via Twitter.

Soon enough, Harmon received thousands of messages from people around the world conveying their support for the old man.
Others identified the other grandchildren and sent them hate messages and death threats.
But the attention ended up doing good, compelling one of them, Brock Harmon, to go spend time with Papaw.
Kelsey Harmon said her grandfather appreciated the supportive messages, even though he doesn’t quite understand social media.

And Brock Harmon revealed that Papaw wants to thank all of his fans by hosting a cookout in Purcell, Oklahoma.
He'll be cooking burgers, which will cost $2 each. T-shirts with a picture of Papaw on them saying “I had a burger with Papaw” will also be sold for $20 or $25.
“Papaw said he will cook and take pictures all day if people show up,” Harmon said.
About 3,000 people have already said they’re planning on attending the March 26th event.

“Hopefully, people come in, eat, get their pictures taken, hang out for thirty minutes or so and be courteous enough to make room for other people to show up,” he told KVUE.
The money earned will go towards’ the grandchildrens’ college tuition. Kelsey and Brock are both in college, while two of the other grandkids are in high school.
“We don’t want anyone to think we’re doing this for fame. We’re a very family-oriented family. We communicate all the time,” Brock Harmon added.
“We want people to learn a lesson from this -- call your grandparents, tell them you love them, go eat with them.”
