The Cincinnati Reds have signed manager Dusty Baker to a two-year extension according to a report on MBL’s website.

“There’s work left to be done,” said Baker, whose team won 97 games but fell short in the playoffs. “I didn’t want to leave on a note that we still had work to do. It left a real pain in my heart to feel as I did at the end of the season this year.”

Baker, 63, missed 11 games in September with an irregular heartbeat and ended up suffering a minor stroke but seems to be ready to go again. “I can’t wait for Spring Training. I feel excellent,” Baker said. “I feel that I have most of my strength back.”

Baker has managed the Reds for five seasons now and has captured two division titles. In 19 season with San Francisco, Chicago, and Cincinnati Baker has accumulated 1,581 wins—19th best all-time.
