It’s Queen Elizabeth II’s birthday today, but a few years ago, Aussie Jade Taylor got an unexpected surprise two years ago when she took a selfie with a team member for the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow.
Her Royal Highness walked into the shot and smiled as the two posed, the Mirror reported.
Taylor uploaded the moment onto her Instagram page. Some said that the Queen had “photo-bombed” the girls.
The moment has again gone viral on Facebook on her 90th birthday on April 21.
On Wednesday, Prince William paid tribute to his grandmother.
“She’s been a very strong female influence,” Prince William told Sky News.
“And having lost my mother at a young age, it’s been particularly important to me that I’ve had somebody like the Queen to look up to and who’s been there and who has understood some of the more, um, complex issues when you lose a loved one.” He was referring to his mother, Princess Diana, who died in 1997.
She greeted thousands of well-wishers across the U.K. as she celebrated her birthday.
According to Reuters, the Queen will light a beacon, the first of approximately 1,000 across Britain and around the world to mark the occasion.
In London and other cities, there were artillery gun salutes. The Houses of Parliament will also be illuminated later in red, white, and blue.
