Pro baseball player Tim Tebow and his Miss Universe 2017 fiance, Demi-Leigh Nel-Peters, tied the knot in a picturesque sunset wedding. They exchanged their personalized vows during a private twilight ceremony held at the luxurious La Paris Estate in Cape Town, South Africa.
In January 2019, on the eve of the former football star’s wedding, Tebow was still writing his vows to his bride. “I want the vows to be perfect,” he told People in an exclusive interview. “I’m leaving in the traditional things like‘ till death do us part,’ but I’m also adding some of my own things to it.”
The groom told People he had three things to look forward to about the upcoming wedding evening. “The first moment I see her in her wedding dress, the first kiss, and the first dance together as man and wife. It’s such a special night,” he explained.
According to the outlet, the pair got wed at sundown, in a gorgeous outside ceremony, in front of around 260 guests. She was wearing the bespoke dress created by David’s Bridal, while he appeared in a tux designed by Antar Levar. “We wanted to look back at the wedding and see that it was intimate, elegant, and traditional,” Nel-Peters explained. “We definitely wanted it to be something that we could look back on and know that nothing was dated. We want to remember this day for the rest of our lives.”
For the bride, finding that perfect dress to walk down the aisle with wasn’t a task she took lightly. “I was all over Pinterest. I wanted to find something sleek and elegant and timeless,” she said.
At the reception, the newlyweds served their guests a range of American and South African Dishes. They even included their favorite salad on the menu, which, according to People, is made with bacon, berries, baby spinach, cucumber, olive oil, and vinegar. “We eat it all the time, and it’s delicious. So we wanted it to be part of the wedding,” said Nel-Peters.
Because Tebow follows a ketogenic diet, they chose a wedding cake he could eat guilt free. “We choose a cheesecake,” Nel-Peters told People. “That way, Tim can stick to his diet.” How thoughtful of the new bride!
Tebow had one of the most remarkable college football careers, and he won the 2007 Heisman Trophy and two state championships. He had an illustrious career as a quarterback before moving on to Minor League Baseball. His new wife was crowned Miss Universe in 2017, USA Today Reports.
It was June of 2018 when the couple started officially dating, before announcing their engagement on Instagram in January 2019. “Thank you for saying YES and making me the happiest man in the world,” the engagement caption read. They were engaged for just over a year before being wed.
Now, with the wedding done and dusted, the former NFL quarterback is looking forward to a bright future. “I can’t wait to see what our future holds. All of my dreams have come true. It was 100 percent worth the wait,” newlywed Tebow added, per People.
