LONDON—Principal chartered accountant George Mouktaris was one of the enthusiastic audience members when Shen Yun Performing Arts appeared at London’s Barbican Centre on March 7.
Mr. Mouktaris said everything about the performance was different from anything he had seen before. “We are enjoying the show. It’s different to what we’re used to watching,” he said.
New York based Shen Yun is indeed unique.
“The company has brought together the talents of world-class dancers, choreographers, singers, and musicians from around the globe,” the Shen Yun brochure says. “They create an all-new production every year that seeks to offer the audience an experience it will always remember.”
Mr. Mouktaris, who is the principal and founder of London’s chartered accountancy firm Mouktaris & Co, said “Everything is different. It’s so colourful. The music is different.”
Shen Yun Performing Arts has a mission to revive 5,000 years of divinely-inspired traditional Chinese culture. Originally from Cyprus, Mr. Mouktaris was fascinated with the true history of China presented in Shen Yun.
“We knew a bit about Chinese culture, but watching the show gives you more insight into Chinese civilisation which goes back thousands of years,” he said.
Mr. Mouktaris would definitely recommend Shen Yun to his friends.
“The show is inspiring, colourful and worth watching,” he said.
New York-based Shen Yun Performing Arts has three touring companies that perform simultaneously around the world. Shen Yun Performing Arts New York Company will be performing in Barbican Theatre through March 9. For more information, visit ShenYunPerformingArts.org
