President Donald Trump’s approval rating has reached 53 percent—the highest in the last five months, according to a Rasmussen Poll on Sept 24.
According to the new polling data, 53 percent of likely voters approve of the job Trump is doing, while 45 percent disapprove. The last time Trump received a 53 percent approval on the same polling firm was on April 9.

This comes as House Democrats escalate pressure on the party leadership to initiate impeachment inquiry proceedings. Democrat calls to impeach Trump escalated after the president’s conversation with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky was placed under scrutiny.

Democrats are accusing Trump of pressuring Zelensky to probe former Vice President Joe Biden and his son, Hunter, citing an unidentified whistleblower who made a complaint about the call. According to CNN, citing an official briefed on the matter, the whistleblower who made the complaint did not have direct knowledge of the communications.

Trump has repeatedly denied the content of the reports, maintaining that his conversations with world leaders are appropriate. On Sept. 24, he announced that he has authorized the release a “fully declassified and unredacted transcript” of the phone call with Zelensky.

“You will see it was a very friendly and totally appropriate call. No pressure and, unlike Joe Biden and his son, NO quid pro quo!” Trump wrote on Twitter.

Similarly, the Ukrainian government has also denied reports that Trump had engaged in improper conduct during the call.

“I know what the conversation was about and I think there was no pressure,” Prystaiko told the media outlet Hromadske. “This conversation was long, friendly, and it touched on many questions, sometimes requiring serious answers.”

Trump reacted to the Rasmussen Poll approval rating on Twitter, writing, “Thank you.”

According to RealClearPolitics, the average of Trump’s job approval rate across all major national surveys is 45.3 percent, while his disapproval rate is 52.1 percent as of Sept. 24.
Rasmussen’s daily tracking results are collected through telephone surveys of 500 likely voters per night as well as an online survey tool. The data is reported on a three-day rolling average basis. The pollster’s margin of error for its full sample of 1,500 likely voters is plus-or-minus 2.5 percentage points with a 95 percent level of confidence.
