A majority of Democrats believe presidential candidate Joe Biden was legitimately elected president while only a small percentage of Republicans feel the same way, according to data from a
USA Today/Suffolk University poll released on Thursday. The survey—based on live phone interviews of 1,000 registered voters across the country—found 96 percent of Democrats believe Joe Biden was fairly elected. Only 20 percent of Republicans felt the same.

Yesterday, President Donald Trump floated the idea of appointing a special counsel to investigate election fraud allegations, the first time Trump has personally suggested the idea on Twitter.
“After seeing the massive Voter Fraud in the 2020 Presidential Election, I disagree with anyone that thinks a strong, fast, and fair Special Counsel is not needed, IMMEDIATELY,”
Trump said in a Dec. 23 Twitter post. “
“This was the most corrupt election in the history of our Country, and it must be closely examined!” he added.
The Trump campaign has alleged widespread voter fraud and claimed Joe Biden’s lead was a result of a “
national conspiracy” orchestrated by Democrats. Trump’s personal attorney Rudy Giuliani—who leads the effort to challenge the election results—said he has at least 1,000 sworn affidavits from citizens alleging wrongdoing that is “enough to overturn any election.”
Government election agencies
said in early November that this year’s election “was the most secure in American history” and that “there is no evidence that any voting system deleted or lost votes, changed votes, or was in any way compromised.”
One question in the survey asked if it’s now time for Trump to concede the election. An overwhelming majority of Democrats, 95 percent, said Trump should concede.
Meanwhile, only 37 percent of Republicans said the president should concede. Fifty-seven percent of Republicans say its not time for Trump to give up on the election.
Tens of thousands of people converged on the U.S. Capitol and the Supreme Court on Dec. 12 to take part in rallies calling for greater transparency in the 2020 election.
People traveled to Washington from all over the country to show their support for Trump. Many said the election process was handled improperly and is fraudulent.
