According to a press release from the Royse City Police Department, officers were sent to the Royse City Wal-Mart regarding an aggravated robbery on Sunday at around 10:45 p.m.
“Responding units were notified by dispatch that the victim was safe and had escaped custody of two subjects in the parking lot. Information provided by dispatch indicated that the suspects fled the area in two vehicles, one being the suspect vehicle and the second being the victims vehicle,” the police department said in the release.
The victim said she bought items in the Wal-Mart, spending about 20 minutes inside. When she exited and approached her vehicle in the parking lot, a man and a woman exited a gray color SUV. They asked for money to purchase groceries, but the victim said she didn’t have any money on her.
The two suspects, described as a black male in his 20s and a black female in her 30s, forced her inside the SUV and brandished a handgun.
“The victim struggled with the suspects and was able to exit the vehicle on the opposite side through a door. The victim fled to a good Samaritan in the parking lot,” the police department said.
The suspects then stole the victim’s vehicle and fled the scene, police said.
Officers were notified about a similar incident in a nearby neighborhood. When officers searched, they couldn’t find a suspect.
Residents have been asked to report any suspicious activity or information on the incident. People are asked to call the Royse City Police Department at 972-636-9422 or 972-204-7001.
