[xtypo_dropcap]S[/xtypo_dropcap]outh Boston’s New Year’s Day Polar Bear Plunge started the new year with a splash in Dorchester Bay, Massachusetts. The annual event sponsored by the South Boston L Street “Brownies” Club has been an icy winter tradition since 1903. This year a record number of participants plunged into the icy 44 degree water and were greeted with warm temperatures and sunny weather following their swim.
