The Phoenix Suns announced Thursday on their website the signing of former All-Star guard Michael Redd.

“Michael Redd has a proven pedigree as a first-rate NBA scorer,” said Suns President of Basketball Operations Lon Babby.

The 6-foot-6 Redd, a former second-round draft pick by Milwaukee back in 2000 averaged more than 20 points per game six straight seasons (2003-09) with the Bucks and was selected to the 2004 All-Star game.

A terrific outside shooter, and member of the 2008 Olympics gold-medal winning squad, the 11-year veteran’s 1,003 career 3-pointers rank 23rd among active players, while his career scoring average of 19.99 is 12th-best.

Knee injuries, though have limited the now 32-year-old Ohio State alum to just 61 of a possible 246 games the past three seasons.
