A plane crash in Phoenix, Arizona reportedly of a Cirrus SR-22, a single-engine plane with four seats, killed at least one today.
The small plane crashed into a building close to Deer Valley Airport in Phoenix on Wednesday morning, according to Azfamily.com.
The victim is believed to be the pilot, who was communicating with Deer Valley air controllers before the accident, Federal Aviation Administration spokesman Lynn Lunsford told CNN.
Witnesses said that the Cirrus SR-22’s engine caught on fire soon after the plane took off. Heavy smoke rose as the vehicle flew, losing altitude, into a nearby building. The plane was damaged in an extreme way in the crash.
“What you have is a bundle of charred metal,” said Phoenix police Detective James Holmes told Huffington Post.
The plane crash is not the only one happened at the Deer Valley Airport this year. In January, a young student pilot was killed when her plane fell out of the sky due to power shortage.
