Perry Inhofe, the son of Republican Sen. Jim Inhofe, was killed in a plane crash in Oklahoma, according to reports.
KOCO-TV said the plane went down near Owasso and news reporter Naveen Dhaliwal said that Sen. Inhofe’s office has confirmed Perry’s death.
Perry Inhofe was an orthopedic surgeon based in Tulsa and owned the plane that went down.
On Sunday, the Tulsa International Airport said that the pilot of the plane issued an alert at 3:55 p.m. asking for assistance.
The plane crashed five miles from the airport. According to KOCO, there was only one death in the crash.
Earlier reports from the Tulsa World newspaper said that Perry Inhofe was associated with a company that purchase the airplane that crashed.
Citing the Federal Aviation Administration, News on 6 reported that Perry Inhofe has been a commercial pilot since 2009 and was certified flight instructor since last year.
News on 6 reported that he graduated from Duke University in 1984 with a degree in electric and biomedical engineering.
He also attended Washington University in St. Louis and graduated in 1988 for medical school.
