A reading nook should be a standard feature in any home.
What better way to curl up with a good book, forget about the outside world, and allow yourself to be taken away by a story?
Having a special place where you and your book can spend some quality time will not only increase the amount of reading that you do, it will also provide the perfect escape. Find out how simple it is to designate a space in your home for reading.
A Rug
A rug is a great way to define your space, separating it from the rest of the room. It will also help to make the area more cozy and comfortable.
A Chair
You'll need a comfortable chair or some seating in your nook. Your seating should be relaxing and inviting. Consider an overstuffed chair or couch, if you have the space.
Shelving
Let’s face it; some serious reading will be happening in your nook! Make sure you have some shelves, or storage space to keep some books and reading accessories. A small side table can also come in handy to set drinks on.
Lighting
Make sure your corner has adequate lighting. Consider floor or table lamps to help increase the amount of available task lighting in the room. Your eyes will thank you!
Accessories
You'll want accessories that are both decorative, and practical. You might consider a couple of throw pillows, a throw, and an ottoman to put your feet up on. For decorative details, a favorite piece of art, candles, or other decorative items can make your nook more personalized and cozy.
