Penelope Cruz has made her mark in more ways than one. She is the first Spanish actress to get a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, according to the Associated Press.

Cruz attended the unveiling of her star flanked by husband Javier Bardem on one side, and co-star Johnny Depp on the other.

Cruz and Depp play leading roles for the Walt Disney movie saga, Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides which will be released next month.

The 36-year-old Spanish actress started her career at age 15 and came to the United States when she was 20. Cruz is known for many roles, but more so for her roles in Vanilla Sky, Blow, Volver and Nine. She received an Academy Award in 2008 for her role in Vicky Christina Barcelona with her husband, Bardem. The couple have a son, born in January this year.

The Hollywood Walk of Fame is a prominent tourist attraction in California, situated on world-renowned Hollywood Boulevard and Vine Street, in Los Angeles.

More than 2,400 Stars have been placed on the walk, immortalizing celebrities who have made their mark in the entertainment industry, including Michael Jackson, James Cameron and Micky Mouse.

The famous walk attracts more than 10 million visitors each year. But, on April 1, before a rowdy group of fans, the Oscar-winning actress stood regally upon her star and graciously waved and smiled.
