Patti LaBelle and Aretha Franklin didn’t get into a brawl. An article that’s gone viral is claiming that the legendary the soul and R&B singers got into a fist fight, leading to arrests, but it was published on a “satire” site.
The article was published on satire and “entertainment” website The News Nerd a few days ago and has generated thousands of shares.
The News Nerd doesn’t publish real news. It has a disclaimer at the bottom of each page, which explains what it’s trying to do.
“The stories posted on TheNewsNerd are for entertainment purposes only. The stories may mimic articles found in the headlines, but rest assured they are purely satirical,” the disclaimer reads.
On Twitter and Facebook, numerous users apparently thought it was real.
