The Oklahoma City Thunder have signed guard Russell Westbrook to a multiyear extension, according to a statement from the team on Wednesday. Terms of the deal were not disclosed, per team policy.
“We are thrilled to solidify Russell’s future with the Thunder,” said general manager and Executive Vice President Sam Presti, according to the statement. “Russell’s work ethic, persistence, character, and involvement in our community have helped us establish the standards that we are committed to on a day-to-day basis.”
Westbrook, who just turned 23, is in his fourth season in the league after being drafted fourth overall by the Thunder in 2008. The UCLA alum was a second-team All-NBA selection last season after making the All-NBA Rookie team in 2008-2009.
