An 8-year-old Oklahoma boy died after fell off a July 4 parade float in Edmond and was accidentally run over by his father’s car, it was reported Thursday.

When the boy fell off, KFOR-TV reported, a nurse who was traveling in a car behind the boy and his father tried to aid him.

She told the station that the boy had a pulse when he was carried away in an ambulance, saying she performed CPR on him.

However, the child ultimately succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead at OU Medical Center, reported NewsOK.com.

Edmond police told KOCO-TV that the float was part of the LibertyFest Parade.
