Orange County was awarded a $1 million grant that will go toward helping adults 55 and older who are in danger because of substance abuse, mental health issues, or aging-related concerns. The county will receive the money over five years.
The grant comes through Gov. Cuomo’s Partnership Innovation for Older Adults program. The grant will go toward establishing programs in the county to help older adults, as well as strengthening existing programs.
The Partnership for Older Adults is a program run out of the State Office of Mental Health. The program was established by the state’s Geriatric Mental Health Act of 2005.
