NEW YORK—Brooklyn’s Park Slope and Manhattan’s Lower East Side topped a ranking of most livable neighborhoods published in last week’s New York Magazine. The report analyzed the most livable neighborhoods based on characteristics like housing costs, safety, restaurants, shopping, green space, and other factors.

The Epoch Times asked New Yorkers themselves: Which area of New York City is the best to live in?

I would say Stuy Town, which is why I chose to live there. Stuy Town was a good fit because it’s quiet, the park is on the side, you’re off the street.

I love Astoria, on the North side of Astoria right at the highway. Buildings are relatively low; shopping in this neighborhood is wide-open; there’s a lot of light there; it’s very, very clean. The population is widely, ethnically mixed. You can go to a Greek coffee shop, an Italian coffee shop, and you can get everything there.

That changes every two months to three months, because neighborhoods now are becoming more and more microcosmic. They are becoming very small. I’m going back to the old-fashioned East Side-West Side, probably the Upper West Side.

I live in the Upper East Side. It’s quiet and close to work, but if I actually want to do anything entertaining, I have to go elsewhere. But it’s close to the park, so I can’t really complain. If money wasn’t a problem, I’d definitely live in the East Village.
