Luna Park at Coney Island
As summer approaches, a new amusement park with over 19 rides recently opened since May 29 at Coney Island, in Brooklyn. Named after the legendary Luna Park in the area, the new attraction features thrill rides including a pendulum swing, speed boats for the whole family, and a kid-sized water flume. The amusement park is open seven days a week including holidays. Customers can pay as they go or purchase a 4-6 hour unlimited pass for $26 to $34.
Ballet for Young People
This Saturday, June 5, New York City Ballet will take the audience to a world of choreography, dance, and music at the David H. Koch Theater in the Lincoln Center. This hour-long program is said to inspire appreciation of dance for both children and adults. The show will start at 11 a.m. and costs $12 for audience members of all ages.
Tour de Brooklyn
The sixth annual Tour de Brooklyn will take place on Sunday, June 6. This 18-mile family-friendly bike tour will start and end in Williamsburg with a brief rest stop in Red Hook Park. Online registration is now closed, limited day of registration will be available at the start at McCarren Park. The riders will check in at 8 a.m. and start the ride at 9 a.m. It will be escorted by police and will go rain or shine.
‘Goal! World Cup 1966’ at BAM
In a bit more than 100 minutes, “Goal! World Cup 1966” at the Brooklyn Academy of Music’s (BAM) Rose Cinemas will present one of the best moments in soccer history. Shot in stadiums across England, the film captures the centenary of the game’s creation and the first and only year the country won the international title. The movie will be shown on Tuesday, June 8 at 4:30 p.m., 6:50p.m., and 9:15 p.m. The tickets are $12.
