Damage from a tornado has been reported in multiple parts of North Carolina on Friday.

A roof was torn off a home and another off a shed, while trees were also damaged near Aventon.

Meanwhile, there are numerous reports of damage in Statesville and the surrounding area.

Meteorologists are warning that the next couple days could see the worst weather in the united states this year, including multiple tornadoes.

The National Weather Service says that the tornado could hit Halifax County at any time, while Warren County is also under a tornado warning.

The warning was dropped but then reinstated for Halifax County because the Doppler radar indicated “a severe thunderstorm capable of producing a tornado, along with frequent lightning and quarter size hail,” the service said.

The storm was located seven miles southwest of Halifax and moving northeast at 35 miles per hour.

Locations impacted include: Halifax, Scotland Neck, Enfield and Tillery.

People in the area should take cover by moving to  abasement or an interior room on the lowest floor of a sturdy building.
