LOS ANGELES—Mrs. Kafi Blumenfield and her daughter attended the afternoon performance of Shen Yun Performing Arts Touring Company at the Dorothy Chandler Pavilion, Jan 27. All performances at Dorthy Chandler Pavilion sold out.
Mrs. Kafi Blumenfield is the President and CEO of Liberty Hill Foundation, and married to California Assemblymember Bob Blumenfield. She was appointed to the California Commission on the Status of Women in August 2011.
Mrs. Blumenfield bought the tickets as a birthday present for her daughter. “We had a wonderful time. We came for my daughter’s birthday, and it was just a treat. She’s turning 7, and she asked for this as her birthday present, and it did not disappoint. Absolutely stunning and beautiful.”
According to the Shen Yun website: “Sophisticated dance techniques, an orchestra joining instruments East and West, beautiful costumes, and a stunning back drop—this is Shen Yun at first glance. But digging deeper, one discovers a sea of traditional Chinese culture. Mortals and divine beings merge on stage as one. Principles such as benevolence and justice, propriety and wisdom, respect for the heavens, and divine retribution, all come to life, washing over the audience. Originating from Confucianism, Buddhism, and Taoism, these ideals are the essence of traditional Chinese culture.”
Mrs. Blumenfield embraced every aspect of the performances, “Oh, all of it was wonderful. The color, the artistry, the incredible techniques. It was a very impressive show!”
The traditions of the 5,000 year old ancient Chinese culture intrigued her.
“It’s amazing. It’s full of rich, rich traditions and such a long history of 5,000 years, and we really appreciated the exposure to it,” said Mrs. Blumenfield.
Her daughter added her approval, saying, “It was awesome. I like the dancing!”
