Libya has stopped issuing visas to citizens from the majority of European nations, after officials in the country vowed reprisals following a diplomatic spat with Switzerland.
Diplomats told media on Monday that Libya has barred visitors from the 25-country Schengen zone and three other countries, including Switzerland.
During the weekend a Libyan newspaper reported that Switzerland had drawn up a visa blacklist that included Colonel Muammar Gaddafi and his family. The newspaper said the North African country was planning on taking “severe measures” in response.
