For high school students who were preparing to take their SATs but were affected by Hurricane Sandy, the College Board, a nonprofit organization, has compiled a list of test center closings and make-up dates. The board is pushing its member colleges and universities to extend early decision and early action application deadlines for students affected by the hurricane.
Over 50,000 students were scheduled throughout 300 testing centers to take their SATs last weekend, according to a letter written by David Coleman, president of the board. The letter was posted Nov. 6 on the College Board’s website.
“We have worked together with ETS to ensure that all students in affected areas need not worry about testing at this time,” wrote Coleman. Educational Testing Services (ETS) develops, administers, and scores tests worldwide.
A list of test center closings and make-up dates can be obtained on collegeboard.org.
“Many of our employees, especially in the New York Office were deeply impacted by the storm, including those who live outside of the main disaster areas,” wrote Coleman.
The College Board closed their offices in Virginia, New York, Massachusetts, and Pennsylvania “so that employees could focus on taking care of their families and their homes,” Coleman wrote.
