PATERSON, N.J.—Officials say a man was injured after a New York-bound train hit a car that was stuck on the tracks in northern New Jersey.
It happened around 7:30 p.m. Thursday night in the Passaic County city of Paterson.
A New Jersey Transit spokeswoman says the man driving the car was taken to a nearby hospital with unspecified injuries.
The spokeswoman says all gates and warning signs were properly operating.
None of the 400 passengers and crew on the Main Line train were injured.
The train had left Hoboken and was headed about 26 miles north to Suffern, New York. The passengers were bussed to their destinations.
Other trains on the Main Line were briefly delayed.
The driver has not been identified. The crash is under the investigation is continuing.
