A tornado warning was issued for east-central Ocean County in New Jersey on Tuesday.
The warning will end at 10:45 a.m., said the National Weather Service.
The warning was issued as moderate to heavy rains have fallen across the state, causing flooding in some areas.
The agency said that a storm that could produce a tornado was approaching Barnegat Light 15 miles south of Toms River, moving northeast at 20 miles per hour.
The National Weather Service recommends that residents should take shelter in a sturdy room--preferably a hallway or a room without windows--in the bottom floor.
