NEW YORK— Mayor Michael Bloomberg announced on Sept. 26 that he appointed six members to a new board for the New York City Housing Authority. The board members are part-time and are led by one full-time chairman. Before recent legislative changes, there were three full-time salaried board members and a chairman.
The members of the new NYCHA board include Diahann Billings-Burford, head of New York City’s service and volunteerism division; Beatrice Byrd, former President of the Red Hook West Resident Association; public housing resident Victor A. González; Economic Development Corporation President Kyle Kimball; Willie Mae Lewis, president of the St. Nicholas Houses Resident Association; and finance and housing expert Emily Youssouf.
Though the appointments range from one to three year terms, the new incoming mayor could replace them.
