The Brooklyn Nets have agree to a contract with their own restricted free agent, center Brook Lopez, according to a report on the NBA’s website.
The deal is for four years and $60.8 million for the 24-year-old Lopez who played just five games last season due to injuries.
Prior to last season Lopez had not missed a game in his entire three-year career, starting all 246 games at center. For his career, Lopez has averaged 17.4 points, 7.5 rebounds, and 1.6 blocks per game.
The signing of Lopez will most likely suspend any trade talks of Dwight Howard becoming a Net. Newly-signed free agents would not be available for trade until January 15 and Lopez would be the centerpiece in any deal for the three-time Defensive Player of the Year Howard.
