Neil Tennant, the Pet Shop Boys singer, is not dead and isn’t in “intensive care.”
An online death hoax was spread on Friday about the 59-year-old English singer.
The Pet Shop Boys Twitter account confirmed as much on Friday.
“Stories reporting that Neil has been seriously injured are a hoax. PSB HQ,” it reads.
It’s unclear how the death hoax or hospitalization hoax was started.
But celebrities are often subjected to death hoaxes or injury hoaxes. Tennant has been subjected to death hoaxes in previous years.
One of the rumors that’s being spread around is from the Global Associated News, which says he was killed in a car crash.
“Neil Tennant Singer of Duo Pet Shop Boys died in a single vehicle crash on Route 80 between Morristown and Roswell. He was pronounced dead at the scene by paramedics responding to the vehicle accident and was identified by photo ID found on his body. Alcohol and drugs do not appear to have been a factor in this accident - February 7, 2014,” it reads.
The Global Associated News is a website that automatically creates death hoaxes.
It’s disclaimer says, “FAKE...
