Halftime recap: Spurs 61, Heat 52
The Heat started the second quarter the same way they ended the first—cold. The team missed six of it’s first seven shots—with only a Shane Battier three-pointer to show for the first three minutes of play. For Battier the three was his second of the series.
Danny Green came alive early in the second with a trio of threes to extend San Antonio’s lead to 45 – 28 with 7:01 left. Green entered the game 19-for-28 from the series and had tied Ray Allen’s Finals’ record of 22 threes (established in 2008) by halftime.
Green had 13 points in the first half to tie Tim Duncan for the team lead. Tony Parker, which hit a buzzer-beater just before the end of the half has 11 points and a pair assists, while Manu Ginobli has 11 points along with 6 assists.
The Heat kept the quarter close with a 12-0 run mid-way through the period. Ray Allen highlighted the run with a four-point play. Allen had six points in the first half.
An aggressive Dwyane Wade has 14 points for the half, while LeBron James has put up 16 himself, as Miami’s ‘Big Three’ has 40 of the team’s 52 points.
The shooting percentages tell the story of the first half. San Antonio is tearing up the nets, shooting 61.8 percent for the half, while the Heat are struggling along at 42.2 percent.
