Hours before the conclusion of the Beijing Olympics opening ceremony, the China Interim Government held an Internet press conference to condemn the Chinese Communist Party (CCP)’s seven year long preparation for the Games as nothing but a showcase for political propaganda. According to the Interim Government leaders, the CCP’s excessive resource consumption has also left the nation in a worse economic and social position than before.

The cost of the Beijing Olympics totalled over $40 billion. According to Mr. Wu Fan, president of the China Interim Government, the Chinese stock-market was plummeting during the opening ceremony, but the CCP had exhausted its finances on the Games and was unable to save the market. Wu said, “None of the Olympics that were financially funded by a government were financially successful.”

Since Beijing was awarded the Games on the understanding that its human rights record would improve, numerous public instances have showed that the improvements are unlikely to happen. According to Mr. Tang Boqiao, the Interim government’s spokesman, regime’s failure to improve its human rights record seems to affirm that the regime only regards the event as a political exercise, because it would not have otherwise spent a mass amount of manpower and money on a sports event.

Mr. Tang said, “The CCP had absolutely no intention to improve its human rights records since the day it started. This is the most political Olympics in history.”

The three hour long press conference also commented on the CCP’s failure to find a renowned and well-respected artist to direct the opening ceremony. According to Tang, the director role fell upon Mr. Zhang Yimou, the director of The Curse of the Golden Flower, only after Steven Spielberg abandoned the role on human rights grounds. Director Zhang is known for his works full of violence, incest and tyranny.

The China Interim Government was established in January 2008 with the goals to return the power, lands and wealth to the people of China from the Chinese Communist Party as well as promote racial harmony.
