‘Michigan won title’ ad: A book from the Detroit Free Press mistakenly claimed that the University of Michigan won its “second NCAA title” in an advertisement on Amazon.com.

The book, which has an April 11, 2013 publication date, is called “Blue Heaven: The A-Maize-Ing Story of the Michigan Wolverines’ Return to Glory--and Their Second NCAA Title!”

“This commemorative book on Michigan’s 2013 NCAA men’s basketball championship provides a visual account of the Wolverines’ road to glory,” reads an abstract of what the book is about.

It added, “Through unique words and images from Michigan’s largest newspaper, the Detroit Free Press, this celebratory book takes readers” through the team’s season. “Including more than 100 color photographs and featuring stars Trey Burke, Tim Hardaway, Jr., and Glen Robinson III and head coach John Beilein, this keepsake book is an essential part of any fan’s collection,” the excerpt said.

Michigan got to the final game but lost on Monday night to Louisville, 82-76.

“Epic Fail! Guess you won’t be cashing in on your team losing to Louisville. Nice try, hey just put this book up for pre-order next year when the Wolverines lose again!” wrote a reviewer, Todd Ewing.

“I would like to place a pre-order for the 2005 Detroit Pistons, 2006 Detroit Tigers, 2009 Detroit Red Wings, 2009 Michigan State Spartans Men’s Basketball, and 2012 Detroit Tigers commemorative championship publications. Long live the glory!” sarcastically wrote another user, referring to other Detroit-area teams who almost won a championship in their respective sports.

The newspaper’s digital editor, Stefanie Murray, said in a that the book was released because an error with the publisher.

“Our publisher is working with Amazon to make sure it gets removed. Hopefully at this time next year, however, we WILL be publishing either a book on Michigan or Michigan State winning the 2014 national title,” she said on Amazon’s website.
