Melissa & Joey on ABC Family has gotten a renewal for a season 4.
The comedy, starring Melissa Joan Hart (Mel) and Joey Lawrence (Joe), started airing in 2010 and was set to wrap up season 3 on June 18 with episode 39.
ABC Family noted that season 4 will take the show over a milestone 100 episodes.
In the series, Hart plays Mel, a local politician raising her niece Lennox (Taylor Spreitler) and nephew Ryder (Nick Robinson) with the help of Joe, a financial whiz who took the job of running Mel’s household after Mel’s sister caused him to unfairly lose his job in a business scandal.
“In the series’ third season, the kids are grown and independent and Mel and Joe have decided to give in to their feelings and pursue a relationship with each other,” the network said.
The principal cast of the show is expected to return for the next season.
A premiere date for season 4 hasn’t been announced yet.
But the last two seasons have both premiered in late May (May 29 and May 30), meaning season 4 should premiere around the same time.
There’s no word on whether the show will stay in its Wednesday at 8 p.m. timeslot. But it likely will.
“We’re delighted to produce more episodes of ‘Melissa & Joey’ and ‘Baby Daddy,’ two series that together have helped ABC Family establish a strong comedy block that continues to make our audience laugh out loud,” ABC Family president Tom Ascheim said in a statement.
