Actor Matt Damon and director Paul Greengrass are said to be in early talks about bringing back Jason Bourne to the big screen. Universal Pictures is just starting to tie back both Greengrass and Damon for an untitled Bourne feature, which would mean a revival of one of Hollywood’s biggest action franchises.
Although Damon and Greengrass have always said that they wouldn’t be willing to return to the CIA saga, after they worked on “The Bourne Supremacy” as well as “The Bourne Ultimatum,” but now it seems like the two made up their minds and they’re looking to return.
The only potential problem might be that Universal has already been developing a new untitled film set in the Bourne line with director Justin Lin and starring Jeremy Renner as Aaron Cross.
The fifth Bourne movie, “The Bourne Betrayal” was set for a July 16, 2016, however now it’s unclear if the movie will stay or if the new Bourne movie will take that slot.
Matt Damon played Jason Bourne in the “The Bourne Identity” (2002), “The Bourne Supremacy” (2004), and “The Bourne Ultimatum” (2007). Jeremy Renner played Aaron Cross in “The Bourne Legacy” (2012).
