Former Hewlett-Packard Co. Chief Executive Officer Mark V. Hurd is reportedly being considered for a top post at Silicon Valley software giant Oracle Corp.
The LA Times reported that Hurd was in discussions with his friend, Oracle Chairman Larry Ellison, about the No. 2 post at Oracle, according to several people with knowledge of the information.
Hurd resigned on Aug. 6 after it was discovered that he withheld a personal relationship with a contractor. At the time, Ellison wrote in the New York Times that HP’s decision was “the worst personnel decision since the idiots on the Apple board fired Steve Jobs many years ago.” Oracle is one of the largest software companies in the world—it recently finalized its $7.4 billion deal to acquire Sun Microsystems Inc.
