A Texas man allegedly stole credit cards to buy thousands of dollars worth of Chick-Fil'A gift cards.

Austin police arrested David Ricketts, 26, on May 6 after receiving a call from employees at the Chick Fil'A store located at 503 W Martin Luther King Jr Blvd. According to employees, the man was using stolen credit cards to purchase a vast amount of gift cards.

Police came to the food restaurant where employees pointed out who Ricketts was; they then search Ricketts and confiscated his wallet.  Police discovered that the driver’s license in Ricketts’s wallet and the credit cards did not match the name Ricketts had given them earlier.

It was evident that something was not quite right—even if the photo on the driver’s license matched his face.

According to reports, Ricketts asked to purchase 10 $100 gift cards, but the first card was declined. Then he tried a second one and this time it was approved. So, he bought 10 more $100 gift cards—$2,000 worth of gift cards were found on him that day, officials said.

Not long after that, investigators found he'd purchased $7,000 in gift cards from the same restaurant on May 4, just two days before Friday’s incident, Time reported.

Ricketts is charged with forgery and credit card abuse and is held on a $15,000 bond.

Because of last week’s incident, Chick-Fil'A now requires all customers to show a photo ID if they wish to purchase gift cards with a credit or debit card.
