A man with explosives and guns was arrested on his way to a Los Angeles Pride Parade on Sunday---just hours after the worst mass shooting in U.S. history was carried out.

There appears to be no connection to the Orlando, Florida, mass shooting at a gay nightclub, said Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti in West Hollywood, ahead of the Pride Parade.

The Los Angeles Times said officials in Santa Monica found possible explosives as well as several weapons and ammunition in a man’s vehicle who told them he was waiting for a friend at the Pride festival. Federal and local law enforcement decided against canceling the parade, but they increased security measures.

“There was an active shooter situation in the city of Orlando, Florida. The incident could conceivably be duplicated here in the city of West Hollywood,” Lt. Edward Ramirez of the Sheriff’s West Hollywood Station told the Los Angeles Daily News. “Our deputy personnel would be looking out for people acting strangely, people who may be carrying weapons or someone who may be acting suspiciously. Those are all things that we would look for when I mention a heightened sense of awareness.”

More than 200 deputies will be working the event.
