HOLLAND, Ohio—An Ohio man who shot a couple, killing a woman, at a school bus stop amid what neighbors called a long-running feud has died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

The Lucas County sheriff’s office says Jimmie Pemberton died Tuesday night at a Toledo hospital, about 12 hours after the shooting.

Investigators say Pemberton shot the couple then set fire to their home and shot himself.

A school official says the shooting happened just before a bus arrived to pick up the couple’s second-grade child. The child wasn’t harmed.

He says students on the bus didn’t see the shooting but they did see the two victims on the ground.

Those who live on the street in the village of Holland say there had been a feud between Pemberton and his neighbors.

Officials said their 7-year-old child witnessed the murder, according to WTOL-TV. It’s unclear where the couple’s two other children were when the shooting occurred. They’re now with relatives, however.

“I would have told him to think about it, because it’s not right. Those kids now, their parents are probably going to be hurt for a long time. It’s the kids that are suffering,” said Emma Oswalt, the longtime girlfriend of Jimmy Pemberton, according to WTOL.
