A man had to crawl off a plane and across the tarmac at the Nantucket Memorial Airport last year. The man, who is disabled, is suing Delta Airlines because employees declined to help him exit the plane.
Nantucket’s Inquirer and Mirror reported that D. Baraka Kanaan, 40, a Hawaii man, filed a civil lawsuit in a federal court in Honolulu this week. He also contends that the employees did not give him the proper equipment to leave the plane properly.
Kanaan said that he suffered partial paralysis during a car accident in 2000. He was traveling to Nantucket to speak at the Nantucket Yoga Festival when he allegedly crawled across the tarmac.
He said he was wearing his “nicest suit” at the time when he crawled through the cabin, down a flight of stairs, and across the tarmac while crew members watched, he claimed in the suit.
He filed a complaint with Delta and got a $100 voucher.
