Makeup artist Kali Harlow is drawing ire from netizens after she posted a picture of herself with an eye shadow design of an infrared image of Hurricane Irma. The comment on the photo reads:,“Remember in the eye of the storm, God remains in control.”
As of Wednesday, Sept. 13, her post had been shared over 800 times, liked by over 4,000 people, and garnered over 350 comments.
Some twitter users lashed out at her, saying the look was insensitive because of the destruction that Hurricane Irma, now a tropical depression, has caused.
Harlow, who said she and her family were also in the path of the hurricane, initially defended the look saying it was her way of finding hope in the situation, and meant for it to offer hope to others as well.
Later she apologized to anyone who found it offensive, saying she never meant to make fun of the tragedy that Hurricane Irma left in its wake.

However, she has not heeded calls to delete the photo.
