OGDEN, Utah—Mr. Chen from mainland China watched Shen Yun Performing Arts with his family on March 12 at the Val A. Browning Center in Ogden, Utah.

“Blessed are those who have seen Shen Yun,” said Mr. Chen. “Everything was too beautiful. You can’t see anything like this in China. Once isn’t enough—if I have the chance, I will watch Shen Yun several more times.”

Mr. Chen believes that many Americans enjoy Shen Yun because of the traditional Chinese culture presented in the show. “I feel proud knowing that Americans recognize and love Shen Yun,” he said.

He praised the use of the animated backdrop, saying that it added life and beauty to the entire show.

Mr. Chen also expressed deep regret that many people in China haven’t heard of Shen Yun and don’t have the opportunity to watch Shen Yun’s shows. He hopes that one day Shen Yun will be able to perform in China.

Mr. Fang, an immigrant from mainland China, attended the Shen Yun performance the following night.

“Shen Yun can only be described as ‘amazing,’” said Mr. Fang, who used to work as an engineer and is now running his own restaurant.

“It is extremely difficult to produce such a high-quality Chinese show in the United States—these young people have worked very hard.” He praised the dancers, saying that they have very solid technique.

“Three years ago, I brought my entire family to see Shen Yun for the first time, and since then we have watched it every year. Every Shen Yun show brings new surprises. I really enjoyed the Chinese ethnic dances, especially the dances of the Yi minority,” he said.

“China embodies cultural elements that are meant to be shared,” Mr. Fang said. “Shen Yun has brought Chinese culture to America. This is a great thing. These young people have given it their all.”
