Magic Johnson Dwight Howard: Former Lakers legend criticized current Los Angeles Laker center Howard after an Howard was ejected in a crucial playoff game.
“ Dwight, I’ve been swept before but I never let my team down by getting kicked out of the game,” said Johnson, a Hall-of-Famer who was named one of the 50 Greatest Players in NBA History.
The April 28 game was the fourth in a playoff series between the Lakers and the San Antonio Spurs. The 103-82 loss knocked the Lakers out of the playoffs.
“Dwight Howard that was a big No, No. Your teammates and the fans were counting on you,” said Johnson.
“Dwight with an already depleted team you couldn’t afford to foul out or get kicked out. Having you on the floor was the only chance for the Lakers,” said Johnson.
Howard was ejected after getting a second technical foul after arguing with officials after a call he thought was the wrong call.
Howard later took to Twitter himself to apologize to fans.
“Im still upset about tonights game and the way this season ended. Im mad I lost my cool. Im sorry for letting my team and our fans down when they needed me the most,” he said. “If there’s one thing I’ve learned this year its that I need to be more responsible for my actions and learn to to ‘breathe’!”
Howard ended on a positive note.
“Despite our tough season, it is an honor being a member of a team with this amazing history & the best fans in the league!” He said. “I hope I get the chance to make it up to you!”
