Luxury Vacations In Europe – When Is The Best Time To Go?

Luxury vacations in Europe are a great way to take your mind off of things. Forget Disney World, forget Hawaii, forget the United States in general. A luxury vacation in Europe - there’s nothing like it. And, if you’re going to Europe in style, and you’re spending a small fortune anyway, why rent a car for easy, comfy transportation? A luxury car hire in Europe can make your trip substantially more enjoyable, because no one wants to take public transport, bike or hike everywhere - especially when the goal is to just kick back, relax and take in the scenery.

When should you go to Europe? Europe has visitors and tourists from around the world coming in 365 days a year, but when should you go?

There are roughly three seasons in the travel industry: peak season (mid-June through August), shoulder (April through mid-June and September to October), and off-season (November to March). Not many people want to travel during the winter because it’s so bitingly cold in most parts of Europe – unless they’re going to be engaging in wintertime activities or visiting places known for their wintry scenery. You'll find that Europe is filled with interesting people, no matter what time of the year you go.

Peak Season

Summer is an excellent time to travel – except for how it can get and the big crowds. Great nightlife, long days and bright and sunny weather bring in a lot of people from around the world eager for a break. Families who have children in school usually go during the summer.

Shoulder Season

“Shoulder season” – why is it called that? It’s right on the edge of the peak season, of course. It usually runs from April through mid-June, and from September to October. It has the advantages of peak season, but there are less crowds and slightly cooler temperatures. You'll have good weather, daylight that lasts long enough, less people and a tourist industry that is ready and eager to please. If you choose this time of year, consider visiting the beaches of San Sebastion or check out the Northern Lights in Iceland (See public domain image above taken by U.S. Air Force). Here are some other great shoulder season ideas.

Off-Season

Every summer, without fail, Europe gets throngs of sightseers who want to see Europe. Let’s face it, it’s on everyone’s bucket list. There are tens of millions of people that go in and out of Europe in the summer. That’s why some people like to go in the off-season. Say goodbye to big crowds and say hello to lower prices. You will pay less, at least most of the time. From airfare to hotels to B&Bs, it is cheaper all around in the off-season. Having Europe all to yourself is a dream come true for people who just want to take everything in without a lot of distraction. Shorter lines, less distractions, and cheaper prices mean you get to see more and do more. If you don’t give a hoot about temperature, then just go there in the off-season. It’s the absolute best time of year to go – if your goal is to get the most out of the sights, architecture, and accommodations.
