Loretta Fuddy and Keith Yamamoto, the director and deputy director of the Hawaii Health Department, may have been on a plane that crashed today off Molokai island.

The plane crashed about a half-mile northwest of the small community of Kalaupapa.
Eight of the nine people on board were being rescued. All are expected to survive.
A department spokeswoman told the Honolulu Star-Advertiser that the pair were scheduled to be on the flight but that the department hasn’t confirmed that they were.
The Makani Kai Air plane crashed around 3:45 p.m.
