Lohan can’t leave: Lindsay Lohan, the famous but troubled actress, can’t leave the Betty Ford Center, where she’s serving 90 days for rehab.
Lohan’s travails have gotten her into much trouble, which was compounded by leaving her previous rehab facility, in Newport Beach, after just several minutes there.
A judge last week signed off on Lohan’s stay at Betty Ford, and while many of the patients at the center can earn a pass to go off campus, Lohan won’t be one of them.
“It is understood by the Betty Ford Center that your client is to remain on the premises for the duration of her 90-day stay in treatment,” a document from the court addressed to Lohan’s attorney Shawn Holley reads, according to People.
However, an intake counselor told the magazine that the center “can’t hold a patient against their will,” and “can’t stop a patient from running away.” The staff does closely monitor patients 24 hours a day.
Betty Ford Center is a 20-acre campus which “provides a serene setting for the serious work of recovery,” according to its website. Its in Rancho Mirage, California.
Lohan is in trouble over a car crash last summer, over which she entered a no-contest plea and agreed to enter rehab, among other conditions.
Lohan’s mother Dina told E! News that she’s glad Lohan is in rehab.
“I am so relieved and thankful that Lindsay is getting the help she needs in a credible place,” Dina said. “She actually wanted to go, whether the court said to or not. She is happy there, to get introspective and get back on the right track.”
