Dr. Dominick Shelton, an emergency physician at Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre and Women’s College Hospital, was also captivated by Shen Yun’s digital backdrops.
He was especially impressed by their high-tech digital effects, which have been perfectly coordinated to appear as if the performers can jump in and out of the screen.
“I have never seen anything like that,” said Dr. Shelton.
“It blended so well into the visuals that you saw on the screen—animation turned into real life, and vice versa. I can see that lot of work went in to that, and it really paid off.”
He said Shen Yun was the best show he had ever seen.
“I’ve never seen a show this spectacular before,” he said.
“There are other shows that are good in different elements, but this is just a fantastic show all around—I would highly recommend it to people I know.”
Dr. Shelton said the colours in Shen Yun, especially the costumes, are so vibrant that they “draw you in.”
“The colours of the costumes were quite magnificent, the flowing of the costumes blended into the performance very nicely,” he said.
“It was a fantastic show. The performance was excellent—in terms of the creativity, the colours, the choreography—everything was fantastic.”
Dr. Shelton added that the show had an uplifting message of “good triumphing over evil.”
“You really feel that there is something important being portrayed to you in a very artistic manner,” he said.
