Little League shooting: A Northern California little league suspended all its games after shots were fired outside of a game, according to reports on Friday.

Two men started arguing on Wednesday evening at the baseball field near the Continentals of Omega Boys and Girls Club in Vallejo, Calif., reported the San Francisco Chronicle. One of the men drove away and the other man opened fire as the intended victim was in his car, police told the paper.

The intended victim was not hit during the shooting.

Police are investigating whether the assailant was a parent at the baseball game.

The shooting took place as 5- and 6-year-old children were playing tee-ball, according to KTVU television.

When the shots were fired, the children were told to get on the ground.

“He riddled the victim’s vehicle with bullets,” Vallejo police Lt. Lee Horton told the station. “The victim was able to get out of the area without being hit.”

North Vallejo Little League President Greg Reason told the North Vallejo Times-Herald that he was not pleased with the suspension.

“We know it’s the right thing to do, we just hope some good can come out of it,” Reason said.

The Times-Herald reported that it is unclear if police made any progress in the case as of Friday.

“They want to be able to go out there and play, and not worry that someone’s going to get shot, a lot of kids are scared of that,” said Laticia Bivins, a Little League mom, told KTVU.

The gunman is still on the loose and was described as mixed-race and in his 20s, weighing around 250 pounds. He was armed with a semi-automatic handgun.
